CALLING ALL FUND-RAISING
VOLUNTEERS - WE NEED YOU!!!
In our diverse membership, we know there are a large
number of folks who have a lot of experience and skills
in fund-raising - but we don't know who you are!!!
Many of you who have been members for many years know
that we desperately need a new facility. To build
a new facility requires money - and lots of volunteers
to get the money. Further, we need additional funding
to maintain our day-to-day operations.
We especially need fund-raising volunteers with experience
in grant writing, capital campaigns, and charitable
trusts/estates. Got a special fund-raising skill that
we don't know about? We can use you!! Even if you
have never been a fund-raising volunteer before, but
are willing to help, we can use you.
In June 2008, CCHS is sponsoring our "Third Annual
Claws and Paws Golf Tournament" at the 7 Cedars
Dungeness Golf Course. While we need fund-raising
volunteers to gather sponsors for the Tournament,
there are also a wide variety of other volunteer activities
that are required to make this event a success. Volunteers
are the life-blood to make this fun event a success,
so please volunteer to help!!
If you are willing to help, please contact John Jones
at 582-9683 or e-mail him at rjnjjwa@peoplepc.com.
Thanks.
How
to Become a Volunteer
Volunteers
are very important people at the Clallam County Humane Society.
As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the
assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our
programs. In a year’s time, the Clallam County Humane Society
receives more than 2,000 orphaned and abused animals.
To
volunteer, you must be At least 16 years old unless accompanied by
a parent (some positions require individuals to be at least 18
years old)
Our
shelter is located in
Port Angeles
. If you would like to volunteer please provide us with a
completed volunteer application. You may request one by calling
(360) 457-8206, or print one now.
Mail
the completed volunteer application to:
Clallam
County
Humane
Society
2105
W. Hwy 101
Port Angeles
,
WA

If
your availability and interests coincide with available volunteer
positions, we’ll contact you to schedule you for a volunteer
orientation.
Each
volunteer attends an orientation where we provide an overview of
our services, policies, and introduction to our volunteer program
and a tour of the shelter. Additionally volunteers interview
one-on-one with our volunteer coordinator or shelter manager to
discuss personal goals and to determine the most suitable
volunteer assignment.
To
learn about safety procedures, pet adoptions, animal behavior, and
other important information about the Clallam County Humane
Society’s many programs, volunteers may also be required to
participate in a training class.
Why
Volunteer?
- Develop
new skills while exploring the field of animal care
- Meet
new people with similar interests
- Acquire
work experience for future endeavors
- Receive
support and guidance from professional staff
Most
importantly, volunteering will make life brighter for pets in our
care and better for the people and animals in our community.
You
Can Help
Volunteers
perform a wide variety of jobs throughout the shelter. Here are
just a few of them:
Exercise,
socialize and feed animals, as well as clean kennels.
Brush
and bathe pets available for adoption, as needed. This really
enhances any pet’s chance at being adopted! Supervision is
provided.
Greet
shelter visitors and answer questions about our adoption program.
Assist
staff at various sites throughout the community, including feeding
and caring for pets available for adoption. Also, provide
information about the Clallam County Humane Society and
responsible pet care to the public.
Help
provide short term homes for animals with temporary health
problems, puppies or kittens that are too young to be adopted,
those who may need socialization or training, are too stressed in
the shelter, or, for those who may otherwise be euthanized because
shelter is full.
- Fundraising
and Special Events
This
might be the most valuable way you can invest your time at the
Clallam County Humane Society. Without fundraising, our
organization would be unable to continue our valuable services to
the community. Volunteers help at special events to help the
shelter to raise money for the animals.
